The Championship welcomes Collins Cup and ‘most amazing triathlon weekend ever’

79

Following this weekend’s confirmation of The Collins Cup, Challenge Family’s The Championship event is getting ‘ready to welcome all the best athletes from all over the world.’ On May 30, as the inaugural Collins Cup gets its first outing a selective group of the 36 best pros will race head-to-head for ‘the biggest prize purse in triathlon history’.

One day later, on May 31st, another 60 pros will race at Challenge Family’s flagship event The Championship for a prize purse of US$50,000.

Challenge Family’s CEO Jort Vlam explained the importance of the ‘high quality’ weekend, which will take place at the x-bionic sphere sports resort in Samorin, Slovakia. He said, “With two world-class races and a prize purse never seen before, this weekend attracts the best pro athletes from all around the globe.

“Spectators are guaranteed the most exciting races ever seen. Not only when they are at x-bionic sphere, but also when they watch the live broadcastings on television or online.”

The Championship still counts for the Challenge Family World Bonus points system for pros; and the pros will – like last year – earn double points in Slovakia. “This will also attract even more world-class athletes,” Vlam stated. “Double points of course give a bigger chance to win the end-of-the-season bonus, but that also reflects the strength of the large field of pro’s who are eager to perform their best at The Championship.”

A release from Challenge Family added that ‘age groupers qualified for The Championship will be very excited with the addition of the Collins Cup to the event weekend.’

Jort Vlam added, “They are the happy few that are not only able to race a middle distance at the amazing venue x-bionic has to offer, but they will also race between and be cheered on by the most prestigious athletes in the world.”
